The sanctions imposed by Russia against a number of foreign companies made it impossible to transit gas through the Yamal-Europe pipeline, through which Russian gas was transited through Poland to Germany

On May 11, by presidential decree, the Russian government approved a list of 31 companies that fell under retaliatory Russian sanctions .
