Russia's nuclear shield helps to “calm down” those who are trying to push the country towards the Third World War “or some other problems”, said Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev.

The Kremlin also pointed out that the use of nuclear weapons by Russia is possible only in the event of a threat to its existence, which is reflected in the concept of national security.
February 27, three days after the start of the military operation in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the containment forces, which include nuclear weapons, to be put on special alert.
